This week is dinosaur week at our house. It's been a lot of fun. Dinosaurs always seem to be such a magical, exciting thing for kids to study. We got a really awesome book written by Ken Ham (Creation Museum guy) that did a wonderful job teaching about dinosaurs and how they fit into our world and the Bible. Great stuff!
We made a dinosaur cake! Here is what we started with.
This is how it took shape.
Here it is iced and decorated. The kids LOVE this kind of thing. I was thrilled to find a baking craft for this week. And, though we are not professional by any means, I think we did a great job. Also, the kids will happily report that dinosaur tail tastes delicious! ;)
Molly was proud of our work!
We also drew a few dinosaurs. I got a "how to draw" book from the library, and that helped. I was very impressed with what they were able to draw. Molly even made a book of dinosaur drawings!
This was Molly's Ceratosaurus.
This is Molly's Spinosaurus.
This is Colin's Stegosaurus.
We read the book Danny and the Dinosaur too. After we read the book we talked about what we would do if we had a dinosaur for a day. Then, we wrote stories about our adventures. They did so well. I hope you can read the stories from the picture.
I helped Colin by doing the writing, but he told me what to write for his story.
Molly's story. I have to tell you, the girl soaks up knowledge like a sponge. I am so impressed with her. She is definitely easy to teach in that regard.
This has been so much fun for me. I am so thankful to be teaching our kids and having so much fun with them in the process.
Until next time...
