Stadium Fest and Vulcan Park

Hey y'all,

This is the second of the "odds and ends" posts. I think there will be two more after this one, but I most likely will not get them up today. Maybe tomorrow, definitely by the end of the week.

Anyway, Stadium Fest was this really cool thing put on by Scott Dawson, an evangelist. It was amazing. Unfortunately, we got just a very small taste of the event because of the kids, but we were able to watch some streaming live video of it later in the evening. We hope it becomes an annual thing! Basically, it was a nine hour evangelism event. It was at Samford University in their football stadium. From 12-3, there was a playground area set up for young kids, with bouncy things and other stuff. There were appearances by Bob the Tomato and Larry the Cucumber as well as BibleMan and Hermie and Wormie. It was VERY hot and even hotter on the field that was covered with white plastic! We didn't get to stay too long because Colin started to act dehydrated. We have noticed in the past that he is very sensitive to heat like that. Thankfully I had flavored water in the diaper bag. That revived him... Anyway, after the kids part ended, there were speakers and concerts. A few of the performers were Rush of Fools, Chris Tomlin and Jeremy Camp. It was really neat. The whole thing was free! A local radio station duo (they were involved and two of the speakers) estimated there were about 25,000 people there throughout the day. And, here is the best part... They think about 900 people were saved!! It was a huge event that was very well organized and very impresses!

After we left Stadium Fest, we drove past Vulcan Park and stopped to get a picture of the view of the city. It was a beautiful day and Michael thought it would be a great day for a few pictures. He was right! :)

The kids LOVED riding the bus. Thinking ahead, they had lots available for parking with shuttles to the stadium. Molly was so excited that she was going to get to ride a school bus!!

I think she looks about ready to bubble over here. It was so cute!!

One of the "bouncy" things was this "city." It was cute.

Colin had to try each one of the vehicles out!!

Molly too!

Molly was dying to get on this... a bouncy game of twister. It was pretty funny once she got on... she didn't have a clue. But, she had fun and that is all that matters!

One thing I learned... She really knows her right from her left. I thought she was getting it, but this really confirmed that she knew the difference! She didn't mess that part up once.

It was really difficult to get pictures of the characters. We got lucky on this one. I was a bit disappointed that I couldn't squeeze both Bob and Larry into the same pic, but it was pretty tight!! I couldn't back up!

One view of the city - the brick buildings are all UAB, I think.

Molly was so funny about this... she wanted money to make the telescope work. Every time she moved it up and down she would here the money in it and wanted to get it out! Here, Colin thought it was a camera and kept saying, "Cheese!" It was hilarious!

Standing on Vulcan Park.

This was our April 25... It was very hot, but a lot of fun. It's always an adventure with Molly and Colin!!! :)

Until next time...
