Ohio

Hey y'all,

We went to Ohio last week for a few days with family and friends. We had a really great time, but time went by too quickly! It was wonderful to see everyone, but we would have liked to spend more time with everyone too. Our original intent for coming to Ohio this past weekend was to participate in the Race for the Cure. In the end, we opted not to participate after learning of a connection between the Susan G. Komen foundation and Planned Parenthood. Though we still want to donate funds in honor of my Aunt Julie, we are choosing to look for an organization that more closely matches our convictions. Before leaving for Ohio, Michael and I caved and bought a DVD system for the car. I still have mixed feelings about it, but it certainly entertained Molly and Colin for a few hours of our approximately 20 hours of driving time! While "home" we were entertained by the "cousins" and even had time for a quick getaway to Amish Country.

We tried headphone for the kids. They worked pretty well, but Colin only wore his for about a half an hour before wanting them off for good. In the end, we worked it out so they didn't need their headphones. They were able to hear without it being too loud for Michael and me, in the front.

Molly's headphones -- of course, pink!

Grandpa will let Molly do about anything, including iron his pants! (Who won in this situation, anyway?) ;) Molly was thrilled to iron for the very first time. Will that excitement last? Please?

The first "cooking show." The "cousins" put on a cooking show for Mom and me. It was wonderfully hilarious!! I got some really good video, but they are too long to upload here. Good stuff!

Rachael is a riot!!

They all had a blast riding bikes.

We are so proud of AJ! He recently learned how to ride his bike without training wheels. He did a super job!

I LOVE this picture! It was so nice to see them love each other.

Colin is a stud! He is always determined to ride the scooter. He is getting better and better and really, does a much better job that I would ever expect from a two year old!

Molly stopped for a moment so I could take her picture by her self-portrait on the easel.

Everyone wanted to be traced with sidewalk chalk so they could draw themselves. Colin was waiting for his turn!! Too cute!

Posing must run in the family! ;) Rachael was allowing us to photograph her before her cooking show began.

Wow! Cooperation! Two beautifully dresses cookers!

Na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na Bat Girl!

Chef Molly

I LOVE her lips!! She was making announcements about her show.

My kids have a thing with silly glasses.

Colin's turn.

The view from our balcony at the Carlisle Inn in Amish Country.

Another view... it is so beautiful there!

King Michael on our bed. We didn't really see the need for the netting. Actually, it got in the way of watching TV! Geez!

Because we care... :)

So there you have it... a great trip to Ohio. It was fun to be "home."

Until next time...
