Life is full of disappointments...

Hey y'all,

Have you ever had one of those days that just doesn't go according to plan?  That's today for me.  It's been a bummer of a day.  And, I will say, I have tried to make lemonade from the lemons, only be be flooded with more lemons.  It started with the rain last night.  I can't be upset by the rain, because we really needed it, but it ruined our plans for this morning.  This week we have been "studying" God's creation.  Today I wanted to go to the Botanical Gardens and possibly the zoo to draw pictures of some of our favorite things in creation.  With the rain, it just didn't happen.  (Just so you know, more rain followed throughout the day, so it just wasn't possible.)  On top of all that disappointment, school was "rough" today.  We had some personality conflicts this morning.  I know that comes with the territory, but Molly actually hurt my feelings this morning.  So, trying to move on, we went ahead with plans to make a special cake.  Molly and I bought a special magazine from Taste of Home that had several fun, kid-friendly recipes.  Molly picked a recipe she wanted to do and we planned for a "cooking class" as part of our schooling.  Things looked like they were turning around for the day.  We all helped mix and bake the cake.  We decorated it and it looked awesome.  As per the directions, we placed it in the fridge to chill/set.  About an hour later, I checked on it.  I wish I hadn't.  More disappointment.  I took pictures throughout the process in hopes that we would have an exciting and fun post about our cooking class.  I hope you enjoy seeing the process even though the final outcome is a bit disappointing.

So excited to bake

Checking on the cake

Stirring the gelatin for the "pool."

Working on the decorations - a licorice ladder.

Adding the rungs

Adding life preservers and fish

Ack!  We sprung a leak!

It would have been so cute!  But we had a crack in our pool.

The faulty side.

Momma said there'd be days like this, there'd be days like this, my Momma said.  Here's to tomorrow...

Until next time...

PS. Can we please blink and it be tomorrow... I just spilled a nearly full bottle of red nail polish. Yes, some got on my carpet. Thankfully I have some Spot Shot. It is looking okay.
