Hey y'all,
Michael and I celebrated our ten year anniversary on June 30th. To celebrate, we took a quick trip with the kids to New Orleans. It turned out to be a really fun and relaxing time! We kept really busy by going to the Insectarium, the Aquarium, and the Audubon Zoo, as well as seeing an IMAX movie. We also got to enjoy a really nice dinner in the hotel restaurant on our anniversary. The Insectarium was really cool. The aquarium was a little disappointing, but still fun. The zoo was awesome. I am not much of a zoo person, but I would go back to this one given the chance. Even in the horrid heat, we enjoyed seeing all the animals. Overall it was a super trip!
The Insectarium had some pretty amazing bugs. Can you find the leaf bug? Is God not amazingly creative?!?! I love it!!
There was a section that took us "underground." Molly didn't like it. It was dark and had creepy noises. It didn't help that a spider randomly popped out at you!!
My little love bugs!
Pink Katydids! Wow! These were probably my favorite.
Mollybug
There was a butterfly room that was incredible. I could have spent hours in it.
There were so many gorgeous butterflies.
The next day, we went to the aquarium. It was already very hot at 9:30 in the morning! But, we kept good spirits. :)
...as you can see...
Which ones are the sharks? Sometimes I wonder!!
Upside down jellyfish. I mean, really!
Check out the baby flamingo.
These two were fighting!
Sweet Molly, always ready to oblige my shutterbug tendencies.
I have never seen a bird quite like this before. Unfortunately, I can't remember what it is.
Colin touching a snake. Molly touched it too, if you can believe it! So sad, I missed it!
Petting zoo. Colin loved this part!
Cool station. They both loved these!
Spider Monkey
We took a break to cool down. It was really hot. We got a frozen lemonade to share.
Otter
White Alligator
Zebra
Gorilla
The cutest Orangutan ever!
Molly all ready for our special dinner.
I love these people!
Molly took this picture! I better watch out, she may be taking over my job as the family photographer! I think she takes good pictures!
I am very grateful for the time away with my family. We enjoy being together and travelling together. I wasn't all that excited about going to New Orleans, especially with two young children, but we found all the good things about the city and capitalized on them. I would do it all again!
Until next time...
