Hey y'all,
Michael and I went to New Orleans this month. He had a class for work, and I had the opportunity to enjoy some peace and quiet. It's not a place that I ever thought I would want to go to, and I now know, it's not a place I ever want to go back to, but I am thankful for the time away by myself and with Michael. We enjoyed seeing a new place and exploring together.
Our room at the hotel was incredible!
My handsome hubby in our room.
The Mississippi River
The trolley - Michael and I took a few rides on the trolley. It enabled us to see the Garden District, Audubon Park and the cemeteries.
Even though I know New Orleans is near the gulf, I wasn't expecting to see the palm trees, especially these. They look more like California palms to me.
Michael liked this statue.
There are jester statues everywhere. I don't really get Mardi Gras!
A statue of Andrew Jackson in Jackson Square.
This cathedral was beautiful on the outside.
Snowy egrets in Audubon Park
The TRUE ugly duckling!!
The cemeteries are so different there! Most graves are above ground. I guess being below sea level, the caskets would float underground!!
There were more than 20 people buried in this one!
One of the workers at the hotel gave this to us to enjoy. Yum!
The beginning of our swamp tour.

I learned that Spanish Moss is so named, not because it was transplanted from Spain, but because it reminded the Indians of Spanish mens' beards.

Until next time...

It looks like you had a really good time, and that hotel room is amazing! Can't wait to hear more about your trip when we get together for a playdate.
