Thanksgiving at the beach

Hey y'all,

We had a wonderful time at the beach this Thanksgiving.  The only thing that would have made it better is if all of you could have been there too.  The weather was a little bit cool most days, but we had the sun every day and our last day was warm and gorgeous!  I hope I don't bore you with all the pictures I am including, but... it was very hard to choose from the scads of pictures I took!  We did so many things and had so much fun!

Molly wrote her name in the sand.  Later, she even wrote Colin's name for him.  She is getting so smart!

This child LOVES the beach!

It was cool, so I wouldn't let the kids down by the water, but Molly found this "puddle" and had to step in it.

Grandma McCann brought projects for the kids.  To Molly, even coloring is a project!! :)  She loved them!

Here they are making turkey hats.  So cute!!

I wore a hat too, but I will spare you Turkey Mommy!! ;)

We eventually had to take and hide all the bowls and utensils because the "cooking" got out of control.  I love imagination!

Chef Colin

Michael and I took a sunrise walk.  It wasn't the best sunrise we had, but it was still nice to be out in the still, quiet morning.

Michael found this sand dollar on our walk.  I am glad I took a picture right away, because later it got dropped and a piece chipped off.  It's still a great memento, but I want to remember that he found a nearly complete one.

Outside the "shark store."  Colin loves this store.  Also, I have a picture of Molly in front of this same tree.

We ate lunch at Lulu's.  (She is Jimmy Buffet's sister.)  There is a lot to do outside because usually there is a ridiculously long wait.  It wasn't bad at all this time of year.  (At least when we were there.)  The kids loved playing volleyball while we waited for Aunt Kelly to get there.

At the restaurant, I captured many faces of Colin.  I wish I could add them all.  He is one funny kid!

Another funny face.  He looks so forlorn!!

Molly and I took a walk on the beach one evening by ourselves.  Grandma, Dad and Colin joined us later, but it was nice to be "just us" for a while.

A self portrait, trying to get the sunset behind us.

Family pic!  Boy, it's hard to get a good one!  I have squirmy kids!!

The sunset that night.  Saturday, I think.

We checked out one of the public beaches.  It was neat.  There were rocks and a sandbar.  We were hoping to find better shells and more sand dollars because there are never too many people out there.  Note the heron behind Michael.

Molly enjoyed climbing on the rocks.  I did too!

Making sand angels.

Colin found a hole and jumped right in it.

Climbing on the rocks.

She is getting so brave and adventurous.

Michael climbed a little.  See the sandbar behind him.  I went out there.  It was so cool.  There were waves coming at me from three sides!  There were neat shells with mussels in them and several huge jellyfish too.

This is from the sandbar.  I am so glad I decided to go out there.  I wasn't sure I would make it over all the rocks when I started.

Have I mentioned that this child LOVES the beach? ;)

We found binoculars in the condo.  (Or the condor, if you are Colin.  Or, the condominium, if you are Colin and are tired of getting laughed at that you call it the condor.  Boy, do I wish I had it on video...)  Colin was hilarious using the binoculars!

As I said, hilarious!

We found the Perdido Kids Park.  It was a lot of fun.  It was really crowded, but still a lot of fun.

Colin loved flying the jet.

Ready to slide, but making sure we were all watching.

As I said... she is getting rather brave and adventurous.

This was our last sunrise.  Isn't it gorgeous?

Our last morning... had to get a last shot.  Also, we saw these shirts (Thing 1 and Thing 2 are from The Cat and the Hat.) in Nashville, but couldn't find them in the right sizes.  When we saw them at one of the beach shops, we had to get them.  The best part is that they were quite a bit cheaper than the ones we saw in Nashville!  Anyway, hooray for our Thing 1 and Thing 2!!

We did have a wonderful time.  I think we could live at the beach and never grow tired of it!

Until next time...
