Alabama Exploration - Lake Guntersville State Park

Hey all,
We have been taking advantage of warmer winter weather and being in a new place to explore. You saw pictures from Mt. Cheaha and various other parks. Well, this past Saturday we went to Lake Guntersville State Park. This one was a little bit farther away (about an hour and half) but worth the drive. It was beautiful. The lake is connected to the Tennessee River and it is HUGE! There is a lodge at the park that is also beautiful. I think I heard that it just reopened. It was really nice and would be a great inexpensive place to stay in the future. We just need to find friends with a boat and we would be set. Hey, Marc and the kids could come down... ;)
The kids were able to play at the playground this time around. We saw some interesting wildlife. And, we tried to hike to a cave. We didn't make it to the cave, but we had fun trying. Maybe when the kids are a bit older and have longer legs we can do it. It was just too steep of a climb for Colin.

Michael and Molly took a potty break. Colin had fun climbing in and out of this chair as we waited.

Molly was so happy to be able to play on the playground.

Colin was fearless on this slide. It was pretty steep, but it was the only thing he wanted to do!

This is one of three ostriches we saw there. Colin thought they were hilarious. I wish you could have heard him laughing at them!

This will give you a little bit of an idea. This is him looking that the ostriches. Can you hear him giggling?:)

My boys on our little hike.

Molly took a stab a photography again. Not bad!

But, now it was my turn. I love taking pictures. I wish I could get some training and take even better pictures! Isn't she pretty? (It does help that I have such a poser!)

This was a tree that had grown sideways. I love her face in this picture.

This is down at the lake. As I said, it is huge. And, it was so beautiful.

Here is another example of some of the wildlife we saw at the park. This deer was right at the side of the road. Colin kept saying, "aww, baby." It was funny! He loves animals.

Overall, we had a really fun time. It would be great if people would come visit us and join us in our explorations of Alabama!!

Until next time...
