Flood and Fun

Hey y'all,

Last Sunday, we got so much rain, it looked like we might have needed an ark!  I took some pictures because I was amazed.  (I am also a bit worried about our basement on the west side of our house!  Especially because we are supposed to get another 1-2 inches tonight and tomorrow!  We have a flash flood warning.)  So, that's the flood part of this post. The fun part came from yesterday. The kids and I went to a consignment store with a friend.  It was pretty far away, but they were (supposedly) having a super sale. Well, we got all the way there and they weren't open yet!  (Even though we got there 15 minutes after they were supposed to open.)  Well, there was a brick staircase to nowhere that the kid played on, (a little scary, but a great backdrop!) so I took the opportunity to get a few pictures while we waited.  On a side note, the owner eventually showed up.  However, we weren't all that impressed, and will most likely not make the trip again.

River one in our backyard

The river down the front walk.

The standing water that just kept building up as the rain fell.  (The good thing is that it was gone when the rain was gone.  The bad thing is that I know it can't be good for our foundation and basement.)

River two in our back/side yard - note the river is very wide; it went from the group of trees, up over our driveway!

Molly hammed it up for me, but Colin was so busy checking everything out that I couldn't get him to look at me.

Another example, but at least I got most of Colin's face in this one.

Here they are both saying cheese, but I am still frustrated that they both won't look at me.

Molly was a bit excited that they made it to the top of the stairs.

The trek down, however, was a bit treacherous!

Beautiful!

This gives you a better idea of what the staircase was like.  I have very brave kids!  And though I am a sucker for a good picture, I can assure you that I was right there to help them up and down and everyone was safe.  :)

Until next time...
