Atlanta

Hey All,
We went to Atlanta this weekend. It's great that we are so close! There really are a lot of fun things to do there. Unfortunately, I forgot my camera (how in the world?!?!), so I will have to create verbal pictures for you! :)

One of the best parts was riding the train. (In fact, Molly told me that was her favorite part!! More than the playground we went to!!!) Molly and Colin rode the train in Washington DC, but don't remember. Molly loved it. She had her face glued to the window any time we let her. We did some walking around the downtown area. We went to Underground Atlanta. That is pretty scary these days! I don't know that we will ever go back there. Unless of course, it is to hitch a ride on the Braves shuttle. We didn't get to go to a game this time. It was a night game and we were afraid that it just wouldn't be worth it. In a couple of years though... :) Colin loves baseball already. Actually, baseball is one of the clearest words that he says.

We ran into Mike Furrey. (A player for the Detroit Lions.) He was in town for a game. They played the Falcons on Sunday. It was pretty cool that he recognized us. (Michael went to high school with him and, Michael's cousin married his wife's cousin this summer.) We felt kind of important, considering that people were begging for autographs anytime they saw any of the players. :) He asked if we were going to the game. We should have asked if he had any tickets for us... :) Actually, that would have been pretty rough with the kids!

Instead, we went to Stone Mountain Park on the east side of Atlanta. It was really cool. There was so much to do. We really were just checking it out. We didn't do a whole lot. It will be a lot of fun when the kids are a few years older. There was a really great playground though. We played there for quite a while. There were a TON of people there because of some craft fair, so we didn't explore quite as much as we would have normally. It has the largest granite carving. It was neat. They say that it is more impressive than Mt. Rushmore. I haven't seen Mt. Rushmore, but I think it has to be bigger than Stone Mountain. I don't know though. Regardless, it was impressive. My brothers will appreciate that the carving is of Jefferson Davis, Stonewall Jackson, and General Robert E. Lee. One day I want to go to the laser light show they have. There really is so much to do there. It's great that we are just a little over two hours from it. We could go there and back in a day.

Well, I believe that is all for now. Don't be afraid to comment people! I enjoy the feedback and the banter! I suppose I haven't set myself up for any comments from the peanut gallery lately... I will have to work on that! :)

Until next time...
