Lake Lurleen

Hey y'all,

This past weekend, we had AMAZING weather. It was low to mid 80's and NO humidity! It was like a gift and we took advantage of it. We headed out to Lake Lurleen. It's a state park near the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. It was beautiful there! We played on the ancient playground equipment and took a paddle boat ride. It was a lot of fun.

The merry-go-round, warped boards and all! The best part is that the kids didn't care, they were just glad to have a playground at all!

Michael got in on the action with a little swinging. :)

These swings were practically on the ground! Seriously, they were about 3-4 inches off the ground! Molly didn't care!

Colin on the other hand.... well, let's just say, he wasn't all that thrilled with the swing that was so low, his feet were constantly in the way!

Sweet, pretty Molly

We had our choice of paddle boats. Colin wanted green (his favorite color) but Molly got her pick of pink. (It was really red, but had faded into a nice pink.)

Molly and Colin enjoying the boat ride.

Our driver, though not the only paddler! Actually, it wasn't as hard as we thought it would be. I hadn't been on a paddle boat in about 9 years and Michael wasn't sure, but knew he was a child the last time he was in one. But, we actually got around well, without killing our legs.

It really was beautiful out there! And, we had the nicest breeze! It was really a great day.

It looks like Molly was having a really great time here, but give her an Oscar... the kids got bored quickly. I was smart and brought drinks and snacks, but it wasn't enough. We ended up only being on the boat about 45 minutes. I thought they would enjoy it more, but then, they couldn't move around much, and there wasn't a whole lot to look at around the lake. Maybe we will go back when they are old enough to do the pedaling and Michael and I will sit in the back and relax!! :)

Wishing we were still having the same weather we had this day...

Until next time...

Ancient playground equipment??? We played on that stuff. But you are right, the don't build things like that anymore. Too bad. Glad to see some new pics here. I've been checking ; )
